Poe's kitchen floor ready

And it looks like this:
(ignore the dog hairs in the pictures, they are everywhere in this house...)

I'm really pleased how the floor turned out :) It's made of watercolour paper pads backing cardboard which I first covered with filler and then painted dark gray with acrylics. Then I tried the sideboard on top of it and didn't like the colours together so decided to try the glass paint. Yes, it's painted over with black glass paint and I have to say that I love the sheen on the tiles. Don't know which type of stone it's supposed to imitate, but who cares as long as it looks nice :D Now I have to decide what to do to the walls.

  2. Beautiful results! At night you hear the ticking of the bones creaking Mr. Skellington insomniac who walks into the kitchen...

  3. Flora :D I hope that he won't walk too much as I want to sleep at night :D

Ewa - yes, it could be black marble. I love the sheen also, the glasspaint gives a silky smooth shine which is wonderful. I have to go and buy some more :D

  5. It's absolutely my favorite paint so far :) So let them laugh all they want, they won't have these love sheens on their things :D

I was a bit worried how the glasspaint reacts with the acrylics as I use solvent based glasspaint, I like it a lot more than the water soluble one.

  8. Hello Mr Skellington!! - he's looking at me from the side of the page. Oh no, he's brought flowers - is he a big romantic softie at heart?

The floor looks excellent, Ira, and yes the clatter of his feet as he surveys the house will be quite clear in the night time!!

  10. I've gone back and read the previous post (doing things in the wrong order as usual) and yes, the painting is beautiful, and very moving, both in the art and in the intention.
    Mr S's other life!!
Why do we have this fear of bones? They're a beautiful part of who we are.

  11. Fabulous effect, I must remember this, Ira. And I laughed at Flora's clic clac clic clac :) I suspect that skeletons are either insomniacs or they sleep like the dead :)

  16. Ira, my mum used slates for her garden and bathrooms and your stones look exactly like them. Google "slates" and see it for yourself.

I am very very impressed with the results. You have made very realistic slates. I am buying bottles of glass paints when I start on my havelis.

  18. Glenda - yes, he will, of course :D Don't know what kind of presents he'll bring thought :D

Sans, I was thinking of slate, but for some reason thought that the slate can't be that black. Well, happy now as I have almost black polished slate :)

And thank you all, I'm happy that you like the floor also as I'm really satisfied how it turned out :)
